Finals Day Weekend
Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th September 2024
Well what a lovely weekend we have had. The weather kept fine and the bowling was brilliant to watch.
Many thanks to JP for organising the competitions and there were some great results. It was a particular good this year to watch many of our newer bowlers getting into the finals.
(It just proves how strong our club has become)
Then we had a delicious BBQ provided by John and Nancy Coleman. Many many thanks to them and to the others that helped to make the evening a great success.
Thanks to Maggie for twisting our arms to buy raffle tickets and the proceeds of it has bought us an ice making machine for the bar.
Sad time of the year when we come close to closing the green for the winter but then we must look forward to 2025 when I am sure Croxley Guild will be a club on the up and up.
Kind regards
Sue

Ladies Top Club
Croxley Guild Bowls Club
We are pleased to report that the Ladies secured a win
in their semi-final match against St. Albans Bowls Club.
They had a fantastic match, which was very close at times, but they
gave it their all and managed to secure a win in three out of four of the disciplines played.
A Top Club Team consists of 10 players. There are four disciplines, a Singles Match (first to
21 shots), a Pairs Match (18 ends), a Triples Match (18 ends) and a Fours Match (18 ends).
You need to win three disciplines to take a win, but if there is a draw with two disciplines won by
each team, then it comes down to the number of shots achieved
overall and the higher being the winner.
All disciplines are played simultaneously.
The final, against Herts Bowls Club, is due to be played within the next couple of weeks,
on a neutral ground. The winner of this final, which is the South West Hertfordshire Area Final,
will then go on to play in the National Finals on a knockout basis.
Good luck to the Croxley Ladies and watch this space . . .
